  • For Families - Move & Play

    Space to have fun with your child. Play, connect, interact and create through music and movement games, and perhaps take part in the creative process for Speedwell’s next piece. Every Thursday after school in Leeds. For 4-8s and their grown ups.

  • For Schools

    Specialising in immersive performances, Speedwell Dance can transform your school hall into a fabulous performance space filled with dance and live music.   • For Adults - Improvisation Exchange

    A space for movement improvisers to meet, practice and play in Leeds since 2008! A fabulous mix of all levels of experience in a lovely studio at Northern School of Contemporary Dance. A well-facilitated session led by an experienced dance artist taking place once a month on a Sunday.

  • For Professionals - Speedwell PlaySpace

    Speedwell PlaySpace offers networking and CPD for professional dancers and musicians. Space to research, play and dance with your peers. Group improvisation scores are lightly facilitated by Rachel Dean and members of the company. Bring your questions or just yourself.

Professional Development & HE

Skills development is an important part of our work.  We are always keen to make contact with Yorkshire based dancers and musicians with a strong practice and interest in improvisation. If you’re a professional artist or student with an interest in our work you are welcome to come and observe a studio or participatory sessions. Get in touch for a chat or come along to PlaySpace or Improvisation Exchange and say hello.

Artistic Director Rachel Dean is available for talks, panels and symposiums and is an experienced mentor, including for ACE Developing Your Creative Practice. She has taught on Undergraduate courses at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, University of Chester and York St John, and to MA Choreography students at University of Lincoln. Including:
